Name: Berserkir

Name Meaning:  A Beserkir in Old Norse was a Shamanic Warrior, said to be able to take the shape of a bear or wolf in battle. The word Beserkir itself means ‘Bear Skin.’ I chose this name because I feel it epitomizes the type of character I want this colt to grow into. A Shaman and a warrior. A protector who is wise but also fierce. I also feel it incorporates the names of Berach and Isk somewhat well too. It just feels like a nice strong name.  If you prefer a name from your list, I would go with Berisk as a second choice! ^_^

Appearance:

Even at his young age, there is little doubt that Berserkir will be a tall buck. His legs seem exceptionally long for a colt his age, and as an infant he will start out as a bit clumsy on his stilt-spires. But as he starts to grow into his own, he will become very graceful in a strangely masculine way. His mane with be bristled, and quite mohawk-like. It will become longer and slightly more dissheveled with age. Near his shoulders, the mane will become longer, and he will keep it braided into a tail of sorts, that will grow longer and longer as he ages. By the time he's an old man, this braid will very likely hit the ground. 

He will fill out rather nicely with lean layers of compact muscle. He won't be quite as thickly built or stocky as his forebears, being a bit sleeker like Linna, but will have broad shoulders with a robust chest reminiscent of both Isk and Berach. As he ages his neck will become thicker akin to Berach, but with a streamlined torso atop those tall and sturdy legs. His every plane and angle will ripple with sleekly toned muscle. He may be lean, but he will have a slightly rugged edge to him that will be very fetching to the opposite sex. As an adult, the tines of his antlers will have an oddly swirled appearance to them- again a reminiscent mixture of Isk and Berach. His neck about halfway down and towards his chest will display feathering, and his elbows and fetlocks will display thicker, longer feathering more like his mother. He will also sport a beard as he ages (which he will braid same as he does with the end of his mane.).

Personality:

-Mature/charming- Berserkir will display some measure of wisdom beyond his years as a young colt. His circle of friends will consist of older fawns rather than other bucklings and doelings. He will be especially drawn to Fawns like Crowe, whose wisdom, crassness, and mysteriousness will draw him like a moth to a flame. Her owlish appearance will also make her a favorite matron of his, as he loves owls and will wish/dream of seeking Gaelach's company and blessing someday himself. He will speak with a silver tongue, and more adult-like eloquence that surprises most older fawns. The fact he can seem to carry on a conversation with much more mature content makes him a joy in any adult's company. The words that sometimes come out of his mouth! As he comes of age for the rut, his silver tongue will be appealing to the ladies in turn. His natural charm and chivalrous personality will make him all the more dashing and poetic in the eyes of admirers. He will be rather irresistable to the romantic-minded girls.

-Possessive- Berserkir will be highly protective and possessive of those he holds dear to him. He will gladly place himself in harm's way in order to protect what few friends he has, but most importantly his mother. Even as a young colt, he has identified his mother as someone who is strong of Will, but delicate of Heart and he wishes to protect her from all manner of harm. When he comes of age to find a mate, that girl better watch herself because he will be exceedingly possessive of her.

-Inquisitive- Biscuit will be a veritable SPONGE, with an inquenchable thirst for knowledge! He will be very attentive to his Mother and the other magic users in her small group of friends. He will want to know and learn EVERYTHING, from the Herd Beliefs and songs to herb usage and magic.  He will be somewhat obsessed with the rituals of the herd, always asking questions of why, and how, and being thoroughly engrossed in the lore surrounding why Oakfern was driven to the caves. He will also have an almost morbid fascination with big predatory cats due to this as well. He will be a very skilled and easily moldable student, and will take great joy in practicing and honing his talents as well as learning new lessons. He may be picked on by other Fawnlings for being a 'teacher's pet' so to speak, as well as being a 'mama's boy'. Will also develop a strange fascination with Berach, though he will have no idea why.

-Imaginative- Along with being good with words, this little biscuit will also have a strong imagination. He’ll be great at creating poems, hymns, songs... but he also loves to paint. His artistic nature lends him a hand when he takes the luminous paints of the cave fungi to his hide. His favored designs include eyes, particularly those resembling cat’s eyes, and he likes to place large designs of them on either side of his torso, with a ‘third’ eye on his chest. He also dapples himself in cat-like rosettes, believing this rather fierce looking paint will protect him from dangers should he ever venture outside the caves.

-Rebellious streak- Because Linna is SOO protective of Berserkir, as he grows older he will experience a phase of rebelliousness. His young mind cannot quite comprehend yet just what a loss his mother felt from her previous fawn's rejection. And her over-protectiveness will begin to take on a light of smothering.  Spurned on by peer pressure, and increased bullying from other fawns for being a 'Mama's boy', her little Biscuit will become more and more rebellious in his teenage years, seeking more independence and longing to create new friendships, as well as the ability to explore on his own. He will not be angry at his mother, he'll simply be trying to 'find himself'. This will be a phase that eventually passes, as he comes to realize he more thoroughly enjoyed his friendships with the older fawns from the beginning, and as he ages he'll begin to understand his mother's motives much better.

-Rogue- As he grows into his prime, and comes to the realization he no longer needs approval from his peers, his rebellious streak will morph into something a little different. He’ll become a bit of a rogue, preferring his own company or the company of his small but close network of friends (most being friends of his mother before him- like Crowe) and from a young child will harbor a deep love for Owls... one owl in particular becoming a favored companion of his in his adult years. 

-Smart-Alec/ hard-edged- His humor will become somewhat crass as he ages (well, look at his rolemodels!) His humor will tend to take on a sarcastic edge, and his quick wit and silver tongue as he gets older, will make him boldly outspoken. He has no problem telling others what he thinks of them... he's not quite cruel. Not like many other fawnlings are in Oakfern. But he doesn't take crap from anyone. Not as an adult anyway. He'll put someone in their place right quick if they get on his nerves.

Future Plans:

From 1-2 years: Learn about Magic, herbs and Gaelach from Linna and Crowe. Be exceptionally close and loving to Linna.

From 2-4 years: Start honing his magical abilities, begin to get increasingly bullied by other Fawnlings. Start venturing further from Linna as his rebellious streak begins to culminate.  Will start exploring beyond the caves as he becomes more independent and rebellious.

Age 5: Has distanced himself from Linna, begins to start making new friendships with other Fawns his own age.  May get his first crush, will seek approval from said crush/fawnlings his own age. Continues to seek knowledge, teaching and council from Crowe.  Decide to pursue the endeavor of becoming a Shaman like his mother. Start to be inexplicably drawn towards males, particularly Berach though he does not know why. Will begin to become curious about his father. 

Age 6: Continues to hone his shaman abilities. Start seeking more of Linna's company as he starts to realize what is most important and what takes priority in his Life. Start seeking a true mate. Will start asking Linna Questions about his father.

Around age 8-10 + :  An adept Shaman at this point, exceedingly protective of his mother- possible role switch here? As Linna ages and becomes more elderly Berserkir will become increasingly more and more protective of her. In fact, as she comes into her latter years, he will most likely spend much of his time watching over her and becoming very over-protective in her final days.  (It would be my hope that he's holding/coddling her on the day she takes her last breath- Would be SUCH a BITTERSWEET moment!)
